Biography:

2011-2015: PhD Biodiversity (Biological Anthropology), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain

2009-2010: MSc Human Biology, Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain

2005-2009: BA Biology, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain

Research Interests

My research focuses on the structural, morphological and biomechanical variation of the hominoid postcranial skeleton. I am interested in how the skeleton adapts to its functional requirements and how neutral and selective processes contribute to its shape.

Part of my previous research investigated the rotational efficiency of the forearm in extant hominoids with the main purpose of determining whether it reflects locomotor and manipulative abilities in each taxon. Inference of function in fossil hominoids is one of the main applications of this research line.

I am presently involved in the ERC-funded ADaPt project, where I am investigating how climate, activity and genetic phylogeny affect the shape of the postcranial skeleton in hunter-gatherers, particularly in the late Pleistocene and Holocene.
